So-called artificial intelligence (read: high-tech plagiarism) poses a grave threat to humanity and a livable planet. AI is meant not merely to replace workers but to destroy the very idea of dignified work, and its voracious energy use is an unmitigated devastation to the environment.

The Book Alliance will publish no book (and read no proposal) knowingly created in even the smallest degree with AI. Nor will the alliance itself knowingly use AI in any of its operations. Authors submitting their work for publication will have to attest that they have not used AI to research, write, edit, or in any other way “help” with their work, including with administrative or other seemingly trivial tasks. If an author has used a single AI web search to research the merest footnote or has used an AI agent to schedule even one interview for their book, that work is disqualified from submission. If a Book Alliance author is later found to have broken our no-AI policy in a book we published, the author will be ejected from the collective, their book will be withdrawn and pulped, and the alliance will seek costs and damages from the author.
